Cosmic AES is looking for an Orbital Analyst to support the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Space Superiority Systems Directorate (SY). SMC/SY equips the joint warfighter with space control systems to gain, maintain, and exploit space superiority. The directorate executes cradle to grave responsibility for weapon system development, fielding, and sustainment. The candidate will support the Space Test and Training Range (STTR) program. The STTR ensures safe and secure operations and provides its customers with realistic space environment to support test, training, and exercise activities. As such, the position will be responsible for the modeling & simulation, and proposals of advanced architectures and concepts for on-orbit payloads to the customer. This position will be part of a fast-paced team conducting prototype development for space-based demonstration payloads.
Support to on-orbit payload design, analysis, development, testing, and delivery.
Orbit Determination, covariance analysis, space object maneuver detection, and conjunction assessment.
Provide orbit analysis to develop concepts sufficiently (e.g., basic designs, capabilities, concepts of employment, supporting infrastructure requirements) to enable prototype development.
Provide orbit analysis support to Space Control enterprise analysis efforts (e.g., Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Analyses of Alternatives, Prototype Development) to help define needed future capabilities and required supporting infrastructure.
Create software scripts in Python and other scripting languages.
Required Qualifications :
US citizen with current TS and eligible to obtain SCI.
Message Level Programming and algorithm development.
5 to 10 years of experience with orbit analysis and prediction, transfer orbits, plane changes, and orbit maneuvers.
Experience with astrodynamics and orbital mechanics tools (STK, SOAP, etc.).
Strong oral and written communication skills to support interaction with Government, SETA, FFRDC, external stakeholders and other development contractors.
DoD or IC Engineering experience.
A team player that is a self-starter and capable of working in a fast-pasted environment.
Familiarity with Space Control Operations and concepts.
Understanding/use of ARCADE tools.
Familiarity with JSpOC Message System (JMS) message interfaces.
Familiarity with Enterprise Message Buses (EMBs).
Experience with Agile Methodologies.
Experience using GOTS orbit determination tools such as MVS, OD++, and ACTRAC.
