Position Description

Cosmic AES is seeking RF/SATCOM Technicians to support the Space Test and Training Range (STTR). The STTR is the DoD’s only Space Range operated by the 25th Space Range Squadron located at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs. Cosmic AES has supported the STTR since it emerged in 2004 and is teaming on upcoming the J-Tech II contract, which will add the STTR to the J-Tech ranges with an expected contract start in Summer/Fall 2018. The STTR ensures safe and secure operations and provides its customers with realistic space environment to support test, training, and exercise activities. The STTR provides support from its Schriever operations center as well as deployed CONUS and OCONUS locations. The STTR operates in planning teams comprised of active duty military, reservists, government civilians, and contractors that work with STTR customers to plan test, training, or exercise events. The job also includes being on crew for event execution. Travel will be required for days to attend planning conferences and meetings of one to three weeks to support event execution. Also requires the ability to occasionally work non-standard and/or extended shifts.

Job Duties 

  • Determine STTR systems required to support a specific event as part of planning process. Prepare system transportation for deployed support.
  • Configure STTR systems at the start of event support window and operate the system through the event.
  • Participate in acquisition process on new STTR system to provide operational perspective. Activities include requirements input/review, design review, test, training, and system documentation.
  • STTR System expertise. Learn engineering details of STTR systems supporting the system configuration for event support, troubleshooting, and training.
  • Logistics support in inventory and management of STTR assets.
  • Support training of new range personnel.

Required Qualifications :

  • US Citizens only.
  • Current Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • HS diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with RF systems and communications across open-air, closed loop, and lab level environments.
  • Experience with setup, checkout, operating, and transportation preparation of SATCOM systems.
  • Experience with operations and maintenance for RF SATCOM systems including, antenna, HPA, LNA, up/downconverter, modems, computers/networks and power including in deployed conditions.
  • Experience with troubleshooting systems and replacing failed components.
  • Experience with logistics and inventory tracking.
  • Ability to react quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate working in a team environment of active duty military, reservists, government civilians, and contractors.
  • Ability to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams, including team interaction and presentation.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft® Office software tools.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Military experience or working in a military environment.
  • DoD Test experience.
  • Working knowledge of current DoD Space Control systems.
  • Security + certification for data transfer responsibilities.
  • Forklift Operator experience/certification.
