Cosmic AES is looking for a software engineer to support the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Remote Sensing Directorate (RS). The Remote Sensing Systems Directorate's (RS) mission is to develop, deploy, and sustain surveillance capabilities in support of missile warning, missile defense, battle space awareness, technical intelligence, and environmental monitoring. Specifically, SMC/RS is responsible for the OPIR family of systems and the DoD Weather System. OPIR programs include the Defense Support Program (DSP), the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS), SBIRS Follow-on, Wide Field of View (WFOV), and data exploitation initiatives. Weather system programs include the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP), Weather System Follow-on (WSF), numerous technical demonstrations, and large civil/international/commercial stakeholders and engagements. The candidate will support data exploitation of WFOV data. Additionally, the candidate will work directly with operators within the Overhead Persistent Infrared Battlespace Awareness Center (OBAC) at Buckley AFB, CO to provide enhancements to imagery tools.
Lead in the implementation of microservices.
Develop additional REST endpoints in existing microservices as well as developing new microservices. Microservices will be implemented in Groovy/Java using the Grails web framework, and other JVM-based languages and technologies.
Application deployment and load-balancing.
Persistence tuning and optimization including use of Hibernate and JPA.
Required Qualifications :
US citizen, and must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance
Education and/or background in software development and software engineering
Proficiency developing in Java or Groovy
Team player and capable of working in a fast-pasted, team environment
Proficiency developing with Grails or similar convention-over-configuration stack
Experience with Agile methodologies
